“Into the Wind”, South Georgia Island.

That day, early in the morning, I landed at Salisbury Plain with the expedition team. This area is recognized as South Georgia's largest open, flat landscape, covering a wide span of glacial outwash surrounded by glaciers cascading down from mountain ramparts, complemented by a beach stretching nearly 3 miles (5km). The colony of king penguins here numbers over 250,000 individuals, and I was utterly astonished by the sight as soon as we jumped off the Zodiac.

But there was no time for awe. We needed to prepare the landing zone for cruise guests. Suddenly, contrary to forecasts, the wind intensified - storm gusts swept down from the mountains, causing penguins and elephant seals to squint and, meeting the surf, lifted a wall of spray upwards - towards the rays of the dawn sun. The spectacle was incredible.

We had to cancel the landing, and urgently return to the ship. The Zodiacs wouldn't be able to approach the shore due to the wind, and we would have had to stay on the shore until evening.

But I couldn't leave without taking a few shots of the king penguins emerging from the water after hunting for krill.

I titled this photograph - "Into the Wind."

This moment was very special to me, and I decided to make a special print.

It will be available in a limited edition - only 30 copies. Printed in Dubai, under my personal supervision. I will hand-sign each of them and mark the serial number.
